Adaptive Sports
Disabled sports also adaptive sports or parasports, are sports played by persons with a disability, including physical and intellectual disabilities. As many of these based on existing sports modified to meet the needs of persons with a disability, they are sometimes referred to as adapted sports. However, not all disabled sports are adapted; several sports that have been specifically created for persons with a disability have no equivalent in able-bodied sports. Disability exists in four categories: physical, mental, permanent and temporary.
Each year, hundreds of physically challenged children and adults are in need of support in order to remain active and live healthy happy lives. Miss Mission
Beach was designed to raise funds through events and sponsorships in order to allow donations to be made to a variety of organizations throughout San Diego, including but not limited to:
- Therapeutic Recreation Services
- Challenged Athletes Foundation
- Special Olympics
- Wheelchair Over The Line Tournament
- Wheelchair Tennis
- Wheelchair Rugby
- Wheelchair Basketball
- Junior Wheelchair Sports Camps
- Disabled Military Active/Retired Sports Events
